The Information Security Lead Linux Administrator designs and builds security tools and systems to support GE-CIRT's incident response mission. In this role, you will maintain existing NSM platforms and consult on new tools and systems to support detection response.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Deploy and maintain open source, commercial and in-house tools to support GE-CIRT's mission
  • Work with internal constituents to deploy NSM platforms that collect appropriate data to detect and respond to intrusions
  • Develop and maintain configuration management and automation tools to maintain NSM platforms
  • Ensure the integrity and defensibility of detection and response platforms
  • Analyze network data to ensure proper placement and function of NSM platforms

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical degree OR (a minimum 5 years of IT experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of LINUX system administration experience

  • Advanced ability to design and build technical solutions with little to no assistance
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing and building systems
  • Strong scripting skills, such as Bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby
  • Minimum 2 years of scripting experience
  • Puppet administration and configuration experience
  • Minimum 2 years of data networks (TCPIP, Firewalls, Switching) experience
  • Working knowledge of secure communication methods, including Secure Shell, SILC and PGP / GPG
  • Familiarity with open source intrusion detection software, such as Snort, Bro, Security Onion and other tools for incident detection
  • Familiarity with computer network attack and exploitation methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work with a team in a dynamic global environment
  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint
  • Strong analytical skills – strong problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions
  • Anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve
  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements, supports and drives change and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways
