•Perform activities necessary as project control specialist for a broad range of natural gas facility projects including high pressure transmission pipeline, compression, metering, storage, gathering, treating, and processing. The Specialist will work with the Project Management (PM) staff to ensure that the project’s objectives are met and assist with tracking and reporting the project’s deliverables and targets.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Provide project control support to the PM team which may include cost reporting, material expediting, invoice tracking, account reconciliation, project status reports and various project related activities
•Provide advising and direction to project team that may be comprised of internal and external service providers including but not limited to Project Managers, Business Development, Engineers, Operations, Contracts and Customers
•Work with a cross-functional team with tact, courtesy and professionalism
•Determine cost trends variations, inform PM of potential problem areas, and recommend solutions to cost impact or delays
•Demonstrate ability to analyze financial information and recognize significant variance, trends, and irregularities and understand the causes/driver
•Report and analyze project progress using an earned value basis
•Collect data, inputs, update and produce standard management reports, Actual vs. Budget and /or Forecast
•Research unexpected items and resolve inaccuracies
•Attention to detail, accuracy, completeness and meeting deadlines and commitments
•Work with the PM staff to ensure that the timelines and/or objectives of the project are met
•Excellent time management and organization skills and ability to manage competing priorities
•Communicate the status of developmental activities to Project Managers and business sponsors using written and verbal communications
•Effective written, listening, and verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills
•Communicate with Management on goals and objectives

Position Requirements: Minimum requirements:
•Undergraduate (Bachelor level) degree is preferred, but not necessary
•Preferred college degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
Experience / specific knowledge:
•Must be able to understand the needs of the Project Manager and business unit(s) for which development work is being performed
•Must possess basic understanding of upstream, midstream and downstream projects
•Be familiar with the natural gas industry
•Understand the overall basic terminology of a project’s principle practices and concepts, project cost forecasting and budgets
•Must be familiar with unit rates, material and equipment pricing, labor pricing and other estimate components and techniques
•Ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship (subordinate/manager)
•Solid leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds and experience levels
•Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
•Willingness to work overtime, as needed
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office Suite general products Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals and results to business segment leaders and to internal and external customers
• Understanding of basic economic analysis as it pertains to project justification
• Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing various tasks
• Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal direct supervision
• Must possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices and processes relate to the Gas Pipeline business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers
• Candidate must be able to pass company background check and drug test to be eligible for hire.
•Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.
•Majority of the work will be conducted from an office environment
•Availability to travel to multiple sites throughout the United States. Travel will be limited and on an exception basis.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
•Project Management Classes or Certification
•Familiarity with MS Office Access
•Knowledge of Lawson Applications is helpful
•Knowledge of Lawson datamart and ESSBASE applications is beneficial.
