The Graphic Designer will be responsible for designing and updating ESF marketing, recruiting and training materials (online, print and multimedia). He/she will focus on smaller design projects including, but not limited to email campaigns, postcards, ads and flyers depending on the season and business needs. The Graphic Designer will also assist the Lead Designer with larger scale design projects including, but not limited to HTML email campaigns, web design, brochures, direct mail campaigns and promotional videos. He/she will collaborate with our IT department on web graphics, email campaigns and multimedia efforts. Partnering with vendors on print/design projects while managing the print materials inventory (including stationary) for Marketing will also be essential to one’s success in this role.

Position Objective/Purpose:

ESF offers a wide variety of programs designed to provide the finest camp experience for our families and team members. The Marketing department enables ESF to effectively communicate its message and mission via online and print media in order to recruit/retain camp families and team members.

Position Scope Factors:
  • Assist with design and/or updating of over 500 individual marketing projects
  • Support Lead Designer on design projects focusing on 8 different websites promoting ESF’s varied programs (including non-profit business units) and job opportunities
  • Help manage over 10-15 vendor relationships including web providers, email blasting services, printers, designers and photographers
  • Continuous collaboration with the Lead Designer, Director of Marketing, Director of Admissions, IT department and ESF’s co-founders

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design components of the web updates and any web-ready graphics needed and work closely with IT department on implementation (15% of time allocation)
  • Design and implement HTML email campaigns (via Jango Mail) (12.5% of time allocation)
  • Focus on updates of current ESF design projects including marketing, recruiting and training materials (email campaigns, postcards, ads, flyers, etc.) depending on season and business needs (20% of time allocation)
  • Assist with original design of ESF projects (HTML email campaigns, web design, brochures, training manuals, direct mail campaigns, promotional videos etc.) (10% of time allocation)
  • Communicate with vendors on bids, job specs, sending files, etc. (5% of time allocation)
  • Carefully proofread all ESF marketing materials (10% of time allocation)
  • Attend weekly marketing and production meetings (5% of time allocation)
  • Help maintain a physical archive of ESF marketing projects and a digital archive of all camp photos and videos (5% of time allocation)
  • Help maintain a marketing job log which provides a comprehensive annual history of all ESF projects (dates of production, costs incurred, vendors used, etc.) (2.5% of time allocation)
  • Some event planning, preparation and attendance will be required (2% of time allocation)
  • Summer (or PPC) photography - secure, schedule and manage photographers. Perform photo selection and archiving for current and future multimedia and other marketing projects (5% of time allocation)
  • Multimedia-review and render video footage taken from the summer into web-ready/HTML-ready clips (5% of time allocation)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

    Experience Requirements:
    • One (1) year of professional experience designing websites and web-ready graphics using Dreamweaver, Drupal, Fireworks, Flash or similar programs
    • One (1) year of professional experience in developing and executing HTML email campaigns using Jango Mail or similar services
    • One (1) year of professional experience designing print collateral using Adobe Creative Suite, QuarkXpress, InDesign, Image Ready, Macromedia or similar programs
    • One (1) year of business experience with demonstrated ability editing, meeting deadlines and managing vendor relationships
    • Strong communication (verbal and written) and time-management skills
    • Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training preferred in Marketing Communications, Graphic Design, Web design or other related creative/marketing fields

    Other Skill Requirements:

    Excellent writing and editing skills will be essential for copy creation and editing of online and print projects

    Reporting Relationships:

    The Graphic Designer will report directly to the Director of Marketing. He/she will collaborate closely with the Lead Designer, Director of Admissions, IT department and ESF’s co-founders

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Up to 40 hours per week during non-peak season; up to 50-60 hours per week during peak season
  • Marketing materials: involves extended periods of time at a computer workstation for design as well as making updates and revisions
  • Some local travel and occasional distance travel are required, especially to ESF camp sites
