Overall operation of the Payroll department, including developing procedures and managing the preparation, documentation and disbursement of a bi-weekly payroll, payroll taxes and related reports. Maintains the integrity of the Human Resources Information System (“HRIS”).

 Responsibilities : Â

Manage the preparation and dissemination of a bi-weekly payroll for Christopher & Banks. Ensure all applicable federal, state and local taxes, legally-mandated deductions, employee benefit contributions, etc. are properly withheld.

Manage the communication of payroll data and requirements to employees.

Hire, coach, develop and manage the performance of all payroll and HRIS employees, including preparing payroll schedules for department coverage.

Manage and act as subject matter expert for all payroll/HRIS related systems including ownership of the ADP payroll system, timekeeping system, unemployment filings, and verification of employment and I9 systems, to include enhancements, changes and upgrades.

Define system maintenance and enhancement requirements as needed to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the HRIS. Build business case, oversee development, testing and implementation.

Perform payroll/HRIS systems monitoring and auditing as required, including support for the annual Sarbanes Oxley audit and any payroll audits.

Responsible for the accurate preparation and filing of required reports and/or payments to government agencies, insurance carriers, etc.

Manages the HRIS mapping, automatic feed and reconciliation of various payroll general ledger accounts such as taxes, child support, levies, garnishments, employee benefits contributions, etc.

Manage payroll process service provider to ensure all aspects of the service level agreements are met.Â

Oversee the timely preparation and distribution of W-2 forms.

Research and build business cases for ancillary systems and tools that reduce costs, improve efficiency or security of payroll-related processes. For example, employee self-service. Â

Required Experience

 Minimum of 5-7 years of increasingly responsible payroll management experience

A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required

ADP Enterprise—technical and functional experience required

ADPRÂ (reporting system)

ADP TimeSaver

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience

Thorough knowledge of payroll tax laws, regulatory and financial requirements

Experience with the management of an outsourced payroll tax service

Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end payroll processing requirements
