Rowan University, Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME), invites applications for an Assistant Professor position (non-tenure track) for the 2012-13 academic year. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate laboratory courses, as well as core undergraduate courses and specialty elective graduate courses in the mechanical engineering curriculum. Opportunities also exist for supervising student projects in the Rowan Engineering clinic sequence; supervising undergraduate and graduate research assistants; conducting research to complement existing activities in the Mechanical Engineering Department and the College of Engineering in the areas of bio-engineering/technology, materials, robotics, nanotechnology, energy systems, and engineering education research; and to participate in the development of the South Jersey Technology Park.
Applicants must have earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. A teaching emphasis in undergraduate laboratories is preferred in mechanical design and/or thermal-fluids, although exceptional candidates in all areas will be considered. Strong communications skills and the ability to work with multi-disciplinary student and faculty teams are essential.
Starting Date: September 1, 2012
All positions are contingent upon budet appropriations.
The appointment is initially for a period of 1-year; the possibility of renewal is contingent upon funding and performance.
