Directs the organization’s accounting activities. Oversees the preparation and disclosure of accurate and timely financial information to customers, both internal and external. Provides a strong leadership, support and consultative role in finance and accounting areas for all internal units, and provides these same services to external sources.

To be responsible for the financial control of the organization and financial decision making activities while maintaining a system of records which will reflect the actual condition of the agency’s affairs at all times and easily understood by all concerned parties.
To set standards and oversee internal, and facilitate external, audits.
To plan, formulate and recommend to the President and, upon request, the Finance and Audit Committee long-range policies and programs to further the objectives of Goodwill Industries.
To function as senior financial officer with primary responsibilities for organizing, directing and controlling the collection, summarization and interpretation of financial data.
To provide leadership in developing and recommending annual budgets approved by the Board of Directors under the direction of the President.
To establish, maintain and develop a system of internal controls.
To be responsible for the function of receipts, disbursements and protector of cash, including the preservation of company assets, investment of surplus funds, determination of optimal cash and investment policies and maintenance of general credit policies and procedures.
To review expenditures on a regular basis and to assure maximum return on investments.
To establish and maintain relationships with financial institutions, funding sources and other organizations for which the company receives, holds, disperses or utilizes monies.
To advise the President through financial reporting, management assistance and management of assets, financial stability, liquidity and growth.
To provide the accounting and financial expertise needed to comply with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
To maintain relationships with other community organizations, government, and others deemed desirable or necessary to conform to the overall objectives and policies of Goodwill Industries.
To develop and maintain improved conditions and procedures within the department that serves to foster and promote high standards of integrity for Goodwill Industries.
Education: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with either a Master’s Degree or CPA credentials. In addition to these, other higher levels of related education in these or closely allied fields is desired to assist the agency in maintaining compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Work Experience: Minimum of 7 years in progressively responsible management in accounting field with effective leadership experience. Experience in working with disabled and disadvantaged people is desired.
Qualifications: Must have above average oral and written communications skills for preparation of reports and materials for publication. Must possess strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills. Ability to effectively interface with various individuals at all levels is extremely desirable. Must be familiar with corporate accounting, regulatory issues, laws, etc. governing non-profit agencies. Must have valid and current SC Driver’s License with limited points for violations.
