Scientist III ‘V’ gene recovery/Molecular Biology

to join our

Biotherapeutics

department located at our

Ridgefield, CT

facility. The Scientist III contributes to R&D discovery research by independently performing scientific research. As a Scientist III you will implement and modify protocols as required. The Scientist III provides scientific ability and results within the

Lead Optimization Group

aiding the Biotherapetics department productivity. The Scientist III represents an area of expertise within project teams and maintains sufficient knowledge of skill center process to integrate contributions to projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Clone out V-genes from B-cells or hybridomas and generate chimeric antibodies

Perform high-throughput sequence analysis

Design and build platform vectors for the rapid generation of expression constructs

Performs as an expert in a specialized area in order to introduce and perform technical functions. Requires limited guidance to perform technical protocols.

Designs, analyses, and interprets own experiments with input from project or technical teams. Routinely suggests follow-up experiments.

Demonstrates clear understanding of research or development team goals and works effectively toward achieving them; Has ability to participate on project teams and contribute to defining expertise-related aspects of program goals.

Applies experimental design principles to modify protocols. Performs literature searches and extracts relevant information

Contributes to training colleagues and junior scientists in area of technical expertise. Maintains understanding of drug discovery process. Drafts and audits technical reports.

Complies with all applicable regulations; Ensures that work performed in area of responsibility is conducted in a safe and compliant manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.

Contributes to departmental administration; Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with respect to cost of experiments, technology, external collaborations, and travel.

Requirements:
Masters degree (e.g. MBA, MSc) with a focus in Biology AND/OR 6 years of industry experience in Chemistry AND/OR Biochemistry

  • Hands-on molecular biology experience (i.e. restriction cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, and plasmid construction)
Ability to work within a collaborative team environment and present and defend results to project and technical teams.

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with design of constructs for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic protein expression systems

Ability to propose new experimental designs, conduct probing experiments

Knowledge of DNA sequence processing software such as Vector NTI, Sequencher, Lasergene, or equivalent

Ability to plan and conduct laboratory experiments then evaluate and interpret data

  • Well-organized and able to carry out several projects simultaneously
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background

Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

Must be 18 years of age or older
