Job Description: Network Engineer
The Network Engineer shall have expert knowledge in routing and switching. This individual is expected to be proficient in current networking standards and practices to include: TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP protocols as well as configuration, troubleshooting, auditing, and log management. In addition, the Network Engineer needs to have a good working knowledge of the following technologies: Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, and Cisco Unified Communications and conferencing.
--Work with peers to analyze network performance issues and identifying potential solutions.
- This position requires the Network Engineer to be On-Call.
--Work with the Network Engineering team on deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, and VOIP.
--Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of complex network and security architecture design to enhance performance and availability.
--Maintain thorough and updated documentation of all network systems including network diagrams.
- Benchmark, analyze, report on and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and VOIP systems.
--Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads and end users regarding pertinent network activities
--Complies with and enforces standard company policies and procedures
--Participate in after hours on-call rotation
Must have a high school diploma
--Network routing protocols to include (OSPF, EIRGRP, BGP)
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of IT experience
--Network technologies and protocols to include (TCP/IP, 802.1Q, 802.1x, QoS, STP)
--Analyze network problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
--Network certifications (CCNA, CCSA, or JNCIA) required.
--Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
--Excellent communications skills (oral and written)
--Previous success working with large, complex projects and teams
--Network design and configuration experience (enterprise-class switches, routers, and firewalls) desired.
--Experience with compliance standards and security best practices (NIST guidelines, CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs, etc.) a plus.
