Provides technology leadership for functional area Expert in several aspects of functional duties. Contributes to the advancement of the basic business processes associated with the functional area. Project leadership, multiple projects. Responsible for all technical contributions on assigned new product development programs and support of mature products. Industry leader experience and capable of multiple project leadership. Drive evolution of product function to interpret consumer/value driven design guides and fulfill cost, timing and reliability goals. Lead, using Concurrent Product Development philosophies, the design of product architecture and innovation suitable for high volume manufacturing processes. Provide overall direction, including written and verbal instructions to design team members as needed to create and develop original layout and technical data package. Analyze, evaluate and select from design execution alternatives. Prove designs selected fulfill specification objectives and implement designs into mass production. Able to adjust communications to support success. Accountable for all technical elements of product execution including integration of complicated components and assemblies, material selection, packaging and safety, regulatory and standards compliance. Mentors junior engineers. Write general and detailed specifications (i.e., product, performance and testing specifications, NPQs and PEACs). Lead refinement of these requirements based on customer requirements. Develop phase-based prototype, development plan, engineering pilot plan and corresponding test program to prove merit of technical concepts and design guide/product specification compliance. Manage activities within model shop support and testing. Conduct design and safety reviews as needed to gain necessary approvals for product development phase progression. Check and approve technical data package; complete project documentation including Engineering Change Masters and Bills of Material. Manage the selection of critical dimensions based on product function. Drive the application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing. Develop junior supporting engineers. Drive quality compliance as related to project work. Utilize appropriate design development tools and techniques such as Value and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Inspection, CAD Analysis and 3D Design Tools. Train and mentor other project engineers Senior level multiple project leadership
BS in Engineering (mechanical preferred) or equivalent experience. Advanced degree desirable. 5 years engineering experience which should include 2 years experience in project management of multiple programs. Ability to communicate across all functional areas and internationally. Works with a sense of urgency, initiative and has the ability to work independently. Experience in international travel desired. Advanced experience in product construction, performance, design analysis and the competition's products Experience designing gas cooking and heating systems including burner design. Understanding of gas systems, combustion, low pressure and high pressure propane. Knowledge of fuels, propane, natural gas, butane mixtures. Experience with regulatory agencies; specifically, CSA and UL. Understanding and experience applying ANSI standards. Experience designing and specifying components from sheet metal, processes including stamping, forming, deep draw, foll form, four slide. Experience designing and specifying polymer components, thermoplastics and thermosets, processes including injection, compression, extrusion, overmolding. Experience with castings, aluminum die cast, zinc die cast, cast iron (sand cast and automatic). Experience designing and specifying wire forms, bending, welding, coating. Experience with coatings, paint, powdercoat, porcelain, non-stick, plating. Experience with designing for machining, CNC, screw machine, cold heading, forging, rapid prototyping. Experience with manufacturing, QA process, DFM, FMEA, SPC Experience working with Asian manufacture MS Office software, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
