RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Assists the lead person in directing the maintenance activities of assigned personnel. Responsible for technical aspects of the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL), which include but not limited to assigning work, monitor backlog to ensure compliance with contract requirements, plan and prioritize work assignments for all PMEL technicians in order to meet customer requirements, while ensuring the oldest items are worked first, with the exception of priority repairs and calibrations. Assist technicians on matters as it pertains to the troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and certification of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
Also responsible for ensuring technicians have the most current commercial data obtainable when no TO is available; monitor all PMEL TCTOs, with assistance of the scheduling section and PQA, to ensure compliance; and ensure shop stock and work order residue are maintained at levels required to perform routine maintenance. Is also responsible for maintaining clean, safe working environment. Will ensure technicians have the tools and equipment required to perform calibrations by closely working with the Equipment Account Manager to ensure all required items are ordered through the Equipment Management Section of supply. Will ensure a well-trained workforce by monitoring and scheduling proficiency training in order to maintain balanced coverage in all calibration areas of the laboratory. Will be responsible for ensuring all training records are maintained IAW with Air Force and company regulations and instructions. Other responsibilities include assist technicians in determining Transfer Accuracy Ratios (TARs), proper substitution of standards, and answer technical questions pertaining to the calibration and repair of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment. Verify critical nonconformities found by the PMEL Quality Assurance (PQA) and assist in the root cause analysis to determine the primary cause of all critical nonconformities. Will assist the Leadman in trend analysis. Will be the contact point for all customers concerning technical questions about TMDE. Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed. In coordination with the section supervisor and the training specialist, provides on-the-job training of employees and evaluation of employee qualifications. May be selected to perform special certifications including Red X inspections. Must promote Company values, policies, and standards of conduct. Must be customer oriented and ensure professional coordination with base agencies. Shall perform other assigned duties, to include TDY and travel.
Must have an extensive knowledge of metrology principals and Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory practices. Must have a working knowledge of International Standards Organization (ISO) 17025 and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z540-1-1994. Requires advanced knowledge of electrical, electronics, electro-mechanical, physics, RADIAC, optics, thermal principles, mathematics, numbering systems, and operating principals of complex and intricate TMDE and PMEL standards. Must be able to read and interpret block, schematic, wiring and logic diagrams, and test data. Must demonstrate troubleshooting techniques, calibration traceability, metrology techniques, and laboratory practices. Must be knowledgeable of planning processes; microprocessors; computer operating principals, language, software, and repair; aerospace principles; metrology principals; Root Sum Squared methods of determining uncertainty; and use and care of hand tools/special tools. Must be functional in the use of Microsoft Office to write reports using Word and Excel. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of Precision Measurement Equipment specialist school or equivalent is required. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. A minimum of five years total experience with recent experience in the calibration/repair of TMDE is required. Other qualifications considered are completion of PMEL supplemental training courses, proficiency in applicable calibration areas within the PMEL, and recent experience in PMEL operation. Requires keen eyesight and skill in visual discrimination. A stigmatism must be correctable. Requires good hearing, hand/finger dexterity, and physical/visual coordination. Normal color vision is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line drivers license and may be required to obtain and maintain a class CDL. Off base calibrations, repair, and reviews at TDY locations require driving various vehicles and towing calibration units. Physical exertion requirement is medium.
