SUMMARY: The Coffee Department Project Manager provides functional support in the execution of a variety of projects associated with the lnnovation, Specialty Beverage, Specialty Coffee Brands and Contract Manufacturing categories. The Coffee Department Project Manager also serves as a resource and subject matter expert for our Marketing, New Product Development and Operations teams in support of continued process improvement of coffee product quality and performance within our manufacturing processes and multi-site manufacturing environments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a cross-functional liaison on behalf of the Coffee Function and a subject matter expert for projects requiring coffee sensory and processing expertise.
Manage and execute a number of different projects simultaneously.
Clearly define project scope, expectations and objectives.
Manage work within GMCR/SCBU’s standard Project Management tools (Outlook Project, PlanView, Stage Gate, etc.).
Develop and implement project plans and project check-list, clearly identifying task predecessors, critical paths, and required resources to ensure smooth project progress.
Monitor, track and report on various components of each project, ensuring success against objectives.
Facilitate interdepartmental work on projects, keeping the team on task to published timelines and costs.
Provide direction on product performance testing, including use-testing and inputs to consumer testing.
Nurture innovation, diligence, creativity and problem solving amongst project teams to develop the best ideas and results.
Share learned knowledge with others and take time to learn from peers.
Analyze performance data and research to understand, identify and recommend opportunities for improving coffee quality within our manufacturing environment.

OTHER NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:
Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by GMCR/SCBU and the department.
Performs all duties as requested by manger relevant to essential responsibilities.
Demonstrated sensory skills.

QUALIFICATIONS :
4-year college degree and 5 years of experience in coffee processing, food manufacturing or food science.
Excellent sensory skills, preferable in coffee.
Demonstrated success in project management in a cross functional and fast paced environment.
Experience in beverage development preferred.
Demonstrated team player, including success within multi-team dynamics.
Proven expertise in designing and managing scientific studies and experiments.
Excellent technical writing skills.
Strong Microsoft office skills, especially Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
Skills and experience with Microsoft Project and Visio a plus.
Demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning.
Demonstrated scientific method and analytic skills.
Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy, especially in regards to developing and reporting product specifications.
Prior exposure to budgets and understanding of accounting principles.
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, as needed.
Ability to uphold Safety standards, participate in Continuous Process Improvement on the job, and follow our Manufacturing best practices.
Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions.
Ability to follow GMCR policies and procedures as well as our Operating principles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100% of the workday).
