The Manager Financial Reporting will be a key part of the financial reporting team at Alexion, managing key external reporting and technical accounting responsibilities, with opportunities for a significant role in special projects, including business combinations, debt and equity financings, due diligence, adoption of new accounting standards and other projects as needed.
As Alexion has grown substantially in size and geography, the number and complexity of technical and SEC reporting issues has also grown. Accordingly, Alexion is seeking a Manager to manage the growth in an evolving and fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting and Compliance, this role will require a CPA with analytical and technical skills, with an ability to work independently and oversee multiple areas of responsibility. In addition, we seek an individual with the following attributes:

Specifically, the responsibilities will include managing quarterly and annual SEC reporting; interacting with external auditors; performing accounting research; involvement with M&A deal teams; managing certain aspects of the Company’s technical accounting projects; and various other duties for the financial reporting department.

Key responsibilities include the following:
Draft and/or review all information and data which is included in the 10-K, 10-Q. Proxy Statement and other SEC filings for accuracy.
Preparation of disclosure checklists for 10-K, 10-Q and other SEC filing.
Preparation of statement cash flows.
Ensure quarterly close activities are performed accurately and to required timelines.
Preparation and review of xBRL detail tagging.
Draft correspondence with SEC, FASB and PCAOB.
Evaluate new accounting rules and regulations to assess impact to the company’s accounting.
Perform technical research on complex accounting issues and prepare accounting write-ups on technical accounting transactions to ensure applicable accounting guidance is followed and served as summary of the transaction for future reference.
Provide support for Company business development activities, including purchase accounting and maintenance of contingent consideration.
Analysis and research of new accounting standards, such as leasing and revenue recognition. Lead implementation efforts for the standard.
Perform periodic reviews of share-based compensation assumptions.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC rules and regulations, including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act as it relates to financial reporting.
Monitor and revise policies and procedures to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
Assist with the oversight of company-wide SOX compliance activities.
Draft and maintain global accounting policy manual.
Perform detail accounting reviews of foreign affiliates.
Build and manage relationships with various business partners, including the tax, legal, treasury, business development and FP&A departments to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction.
Respond to ad hoc requests for information and analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA required
MBA or Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 4-7 years of experience working in a position directly involved in the preparation of the SEC filings (10K, 10Q, 8K).
Big 4 audit experience preferred.
Excellent understanding of GAAP accounting principles with a strong knowledge of SEC reporting regulations; understanding of SAP systems or other large ERP systems is a plus.
