The Scalable Datacenter Analytics team at IBM Watson Labs is looking for summer interns to explore operational analytics techniques in virtualized (Cloud) environments. The project involves interpreting and analyzing large sets of data representing (virtual) system state and configuration, efficiently extracting key distinguishing system characteristics from this information, detecting changes in state/configurations across systems and across time, identifying known good/bad configuration patterns, and learning new patterns that correlate with problems seen in production systems. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate level program in Computer Science or related field, and should have excellent systems skills. A background in machine learning is desirable, but not required: we are interested in the application of data mining and machine learning techniques to solve problems in our specific context. Good knowledge of Python, C or Java is required.
Students are employees hired for a pre-professional/professional assignment while enrolled at a university/educational institution or just after completion of qualification and work for IBM as a required part of their academic program or work during vacation, breaks, and/or holiday periods or as a placement year, for example, co-ops and interns.
