Eaton's Golf Pride business has an opening for a Innovation Engineer in the Golf Grip R&D Department. This position is located in Southern Pines, NC.
A. Thought leader in partnership with product marketing to develop new golf grip products with a focus on the Golf Pride branded after-market (retail) channel.
B. Identifies and creates new product opportunities that provide value through technology, specifically new golf grip structures that perform superior in fit, function or style.
C. Conceptualizes, designs and plans work for state-of-the-art prototype and pre-production grip structures for golfers - including analysis, design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and test.
D. Generates a variety component choices and performs trade-off analyses using both analytical and experimental resources.
E. Formulates a concept’s critical value hypotheses and executes the relevant tests to validate the hypotheses.
F. Plans and manages work from a variety of technical contributors to accomplish project objectives.
G. Interacts with customer, partner, and supplier organizations to accomplish project objectives.
H. Oversees prototype development for its viable integration into mass production with risk assessed on efficiency, cost and quality.
I. Clearly communicates project status to management both verbally and in writing.
J. Applies innovation tools to the creation of novel and differentiated product solutions.
K. Leads Business case development for early stage (innovation stage & Pre-launch) technology and service concepts by analyzing market potential.
L. Relentlessly monitors market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments, technologies and recommends strategies to senior management as appropriate.
M. Manages detailed competitive intelligence program to understand the direction and potential threats of competitors and alternative technologies and recommends appropriate actions.
Golf Pride is the #1 brand of grips in golf and the recognized leader in grip innovation. This role is critical to sustaining Golf Pride’s leadership in grip innovation.
The primary function of this position is to lead innovation within the R&D team and maintain a full pipeline of new products to bring to market. This position is responsible for collaborating closely with the product marketing team to develop new product concepts and technology platforms that will strengthen Golf Pride’s position as the #1 brand in golf grips. The technical domain is elastomer based consumer products with a focus on gripping instruments used in sports.
Execute
• Lead team in brainstorm sessions to conceptualize, mockup and plan prototype development and analysis
• Direct research to uncover new design ideas, technologies, equipment and test methods.
• Coordinate testing with live golfers, mechanical systems or virtual simulations to validate consumer experience, establish benchmarks and link theory to deliverable products
Manage knowledge resources via database development in materials, test results and competitive watches.
