Discover Financial Services (DFS) has an opportunity in the Law and Compliance Department for an Associate to help execute compliance testing across the DFS business units, with a focus on Card protection products, for adherence to federal and state regulatory requirements

Specific responsibilities include:

•Execute and support Compliance staff in the field and at headquarters with testing and monitoring for compliance with federal and state regulations.

•Support Compliance Management in developing, implementing, and maintaining an enterprise-wide Compliance Testing, Monitoring and Reporting Program.

•Assist in evaluating the adequacy of business policies, procedures, training and reference materials, system and manual processes with respect to regulatory requirements.

•Inspect documents, records, disclosures, systems and reports to verify compliance and/or identify trends or weaknesses in DFS business processes.

•Compile and maintain work papers and supporting documentation of tests and findings.

•Ensure that compliance issues are brought to the attention of Compliance Management and participate in discussions with Business management.

•Monitor and test business action plans established to correct compliance deficiencies.

•Maintain a high level of awareness and knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and assist in identifying significant compliance risks.

•Collaborate with business partners as needed to develop and implement compliance training and awareness.

•Promote compliance awareness within the business and support a culture of compliance.

Skills

• College degree required.

•2-4 years of compliance, financial services, and/or credit card experience; preferably in a testing, quality assurance or auditing capacity.

•Demonstrated experience with using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Access). Familiarity with business technology systems, queries, and programming is a plus.

•Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

•Must have excellent analytic and problem solving skills.

•Self-motivated and ability to work independently

Previous or current experience in Lean Six Sigma is always a plus!
