Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis and design calculations, applying governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
Design structural components and systems, from preliminary layout to construction details.
Produce drawings or sketches of structural designs for production of construction drawings by CAD technicians.
Perform field inspections of new construction or investigations and evaluations of existing structures.
Prepare written reports conveying professional opinions related to observations, design and construction issues.
Apply creative problem-solving skills to various and multiple project situations involving structures and structural engineering.
Meet and coordinate project work with clients, contractors and other design team members representing architectural, mechanical, electrical, process, and other disciplines.
Prepare opinions of probable construction costs for structural portions of projects.
Perform construction phase contract administration services, including reviewing shop drawings and other contractor submittals, attending construction progress meetings, responding to contractor Requests For Information, and facilitating project construction quality.
Prepare marketing proposals and contracts for professional engineering services for public and private clients.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from accredited university
PE license in MN or ability to attain same within 6 months of hire
5 years structural design experience with concrete, steel, masonry and wood
Working knowledge of current codes and design standards
Working knowledge of general structural analysis and structural design software (RISA, MathCAD, TEDDS)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
Experience in site investigations, construction reviews and report preparation is desirable
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients is essential
Ability and willingness to travel and work in the field as needed to meet clients' and/or project needs. This may entail exposure to dust, fumes, odors, gases and temperature extremes.
