Monday through Friday; hours are as needed for success of the position.
Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the SVP of Philanthropy, the Director of Major Gifts works closely with Center Executives and Group Vice Presidents and is responsible for seeking out opportunities and developing and implementing initiatives to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors to ensure a strong base of ongoing financial support. The Director of Major Gifts is responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the YMCA.
Minimum 21 years of age
Bachelor's degree with a minimum five years face to face fundraising experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience applicable to the duties listed above.
Annual Campaign experience at $1 million/year minimum
Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet and Praesidium Child Abuse Detection/Prevention training
Before start of first shift: CEO parts 1 and 2, BBP
YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
Model the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through your actions and conversations with members.
Work with SVP of Philanthropy to coordinate major gift requests.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle, to include identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects in the Center Campaigns you manage.
Initiate and maintain ongoing and active relationships with donors and potential donors through regular visits and substantive contacts.
Manage a portfolio of approximately 200 relationships and utilize the Moves Management program to move donors to higher giving levels.
Using the Moves Management system, oversee the relationship development plan as it relates to Center Executives and Group Vice Presidents and update weekly.
Prepare and implement campaign plans for designated Centers, ensuring a successful Annual Giving Campaign consistent with the annual fundraising best practices and Association guidelines. Areas of assistance would include calendar, goal setting, organizational charts, volunteer recruitment, donor cultivation/awareness tours, key indices, and benchmarks along the way.
