Position SummaryThe Transportation Training Manager is responsible for managing the operational activities for the Learning and Development department. Equally important is ensuring that the Training Specialists are developed, trained, knowledgeable of, and complies with established service and compliance procedures. The Training Manager is also expected to create an environment where objective setting, balanced feedback on performance and coaching are high priorities.

Responsibilities:

Essential FunctionsThe responsibilities include, overseeing the training needs assessment of the business, supervising the training recommendations, ensuring that facilitation of training occurs within established timeframes and internal communication initiatives of the Transportation department.

InteractionsThe Training Manager will have direct contact with Supervisors, Managers, Directors and SVP of Transportation Operations.

Supervision Received:

Plans and carries out work assignments; resolves most conflicts which arise; coordinates work with others as necessary; interprets policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives. Keeps Teamleader informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications

Supervisory Duties:

Trains, assigns work to, and checks work of two (2) or more Teammembers; participates in the decision to hire, fire, and promote Teammembers; does not conduct the same work as Teammembers on a regular basis

Teamleader Responsibility: 3 Training Specialists report directly to this individual

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum three (3) years Instructional Design and/or Training Delivery experience preferred, but not required
  • Transportation industry is a big plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Displays strong leadership qualities that inspires respect, trust and a teamwork environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Goal oriented work ethics with high standards for quality performance
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and implement cost effective sensible solutions
  • In-depth knowledge of training best practices and Instructional Design methodologies
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles
