Hanover Research is actively seeking a self-motivated and competent individual for a full-time S ystems Administrator position. The individual will be responsible for maintaining the computer systems at the company's locations. Server management is a primary responsibility, and the System Administrator will be responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading servers. They will also be responsible for ensuring the servers are backed up, and that the server data is secure from unauthorized access. The System administrators will also be required to perform programming (usually scripting, which involves writing programs to automate tasks).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintenance of servers including:
Optimizing server hardware and software

Reviewing server loads for load balancing

Testing and installing systems modifications and upgrades such as hot fixes and patches

Implementing, executing, and verifying systems backups and restoration

Development of contingency plans to ensure continuous availability and accessibility of server resources in the event of emergencies

Conducting functional and connectivity testing to ensure continued operability

Administration:
Developing standards and criteria for assessing server performance

Tuning operating systems performance parameters including installing patches and drivers to optimize performance

Coordinating the maintenance, upgrade, and support of servers

Scheduling maintenance activities

Creating, modifying, and managing login scripts for mapping of user's network resources

Creating, modifying, deleting, and managing user accounts for access onto the corporate LAN/WAN

Modifying and managing Active Directory components for all users of the corporate LAN/WAN

Managing domain name services (DNS), directory services, and dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP)

Knowledge and skill with one or more of the following as described above: MS Clustering, Active Directory, VMware, Web Services, or SAN

Create Active Directory users, OU groups, and understand how to apply NTFS and share level permissions

Work with application development team to administer IIS

Develop and plan for change configuration system for all web servers

Requirements:
3-5 years in Windows System Administration experience maintaining and troubleshooting Windows Active Directory, Windows 2008 R2, SMTP, Windows 7.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy, Registry-based policy, and Security policy configuration and administration. Working knowledge of VBScript, Jscript, Perl Script or Power Shell desired.

Working knowledge of Hyper-V , Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Microsoft IIS 7, , SharePoint 2010, Symantec Backup Executive and Windows 7 desired.

Understands concepts of clustering and databases

Understands purpose of Firewalls and Load Balancers, VPN and SSL technologies

Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively. Must be a highly-motivated, self-starter.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's degree (Preferred in IT, IS, CS or related technical discipline)

CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE/MCITP, or CCNA preferred, but not required.
