The Portal Designer/Usability Manager is a hands-on role responsible for implementing the design, user interface, and overall usability standards of the U.S. Portal -- Clients Firm-Wide intranet -- and other related online tools. This role works closely with all functions and departments through the web development lifecycle (requirements, design, build, implementation and testing) to ensure the design supports the Knowledge Services portal strategy, supports business requirements, is highly usable and complies with Brand, Accessibility and other Firm standards.
Creates wireframes, mock ups, content maps and other design elements which meet business requirements, demonstrate to clients how content can be presented in the online space, and conduct testing with end users Interacts and teams with Information Architect, Project Management, Business Users and Technical SMEs to understand requirements and translate them into implementable functional designs Able to take design proposals from concept stage through implementation including the creation of static and interactive web assets and the development of HTML and CSS.
Designs, prototypes and develops tools for various forms of media including portal pages/sites; interactive forms; tables and dashboards; Flash; video; and mobile/tablet devices.
Coordinates with on-site and off-shore teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
Creates, manages, educates and enforces standards for online implementation of the clients Brand.
Serves as point of contact for the U.S. Firm in the design area and works with Global Marketing and Brand teams to ensure compliance with design standards. Has a solid understanding of design best practices and accessibility requirements especially Fed Section 508.
Builds and maintains relationships with internal teams within Clients U.S. and Global (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Information Technology, Global Knowledge Management, Learning & Development, etc.) for the purpose of driving usability improvements and maintaining consistency across various online properties.
Works with IT organization to determine how designs can be implemented within the SharePoint portal and other online tools. Participates in testing throughout the full application development lifecycle.
Creates and maintains wireframes, mock ups, prototypes and content maps.
Develops wireframe and mock up templates to facilitate rapid site creation while maintaining consistency throughout the portal. CGS Technology Associates
