Position SummaryPerforms accurate records of agency financial transactions and reporting using the AMS general ledger system.Essential Duties Enters cash receipts and cash disbursements in the general ledger system. Prepares bank deposits and bank account transfers. Reconciles direct bill company statements and downloads. Receives and processes incoming invoices and prepares and mails payments. Prepares general ledger account reconciliations including bank statement reconciliations. Conducts month-end closing process and prepares month-end reports for management. Resolves policy and payment problems by working with insured and agency co-workers. Prepares and reviews producer statements for accuracy and commission calculations which include assisting with monthly validations. Prepares monthly journal entries and codes the corporate invoice payments. Prepares and reviews monthly financial statements. Prepares monthly payments to insurance and brokerage companies. Provides support to customers service personnel to ensure the accuracy of invoicing and reviews the reconciliation processes. Provides audit support for year-end corporate and carrier audits as needed. Assists with year-end processes including W-9 and 1099 annual requirements. Performs other duties as required.
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Must have at least five (5) years general accounting in general ledger, reconciliation, or other related experience. Experience with Agency accounting preferred. Must have a strong working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Must have strong analytical, organizational, and detailed oriented skills to oversee multiple work assignments. Must have an intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Must have excellent communication skills to communicate both verbally and in writing with senior management. Must be able to use basic office equipment to include computers, copiers, and/or fax machines. Must be able to exhibit and exercise sound judgment while working under moderate supervision. Must be able to sit for long periods of time gathering, updating, and validating accounting transactions. Must be able to stoop, kneel, and stand to retrieve files. Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. of loans papers, files, and other documents.Additional Information SWBC is a Substance-Free Workplace and requires pre-employment drug testing.
