Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge of higher education. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a team member and to work independently. Demonstrated initiative and follow-through skills, diplomacy, and judgment in dealing with students, parents, faculty, and administrators. Skill in effective communication and public presentations. Strong organizational skills. Ability to travel frequently and present at occasional evening meetings/presentations. Understanding and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to represent the university in a professional manner. Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.
Preferred Education and Experience:
One year of experience working with student populations; admissions and advising students in health-related majors. Demonstrated knowledge of student services and career development. Demonstrated ability in planning special events and programs.
Recruits and advises undergraduate nursing applicants, students and families regarding prerequisite coursework, admission requirements, college procedures and policies, housing, financial aid, student services, career and educational goals; Represents the College in a public speaking capacity both on campus and off campus at events to include recruitment/career fairs; Maintains database of prospective applicants; Develops and implements recruitment strategies; Assists with admission process including review of applications and evaluation of credentials; Maintains student records; Assists in ongoing evaluation of admissions and student services; Advises current students regarding academic needs, career goals and student services; Maintains strong knowledge of University and College policies and services; Tracks student compliance for college and clinical-specific requirements. Assists with planning special events such as new student orientation, informational sessions, campus tours, student service learning projects, and commencement ceremonies.
