Duties And Responsibilities & Minimum Requirements:

The Development Assistant (DA) is responsible for the administration of the activities for the Mid-Atlantic (MA) and Southeast (SE) Development team. This person will be responsible for day-to-day and long-term operations. Candidate should possess and demonstrate skill in: organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects that require teamwork, flexibility, focus, confidentiality and diplomacy. This person must coordinate their activities with the members of the MA/SE Development Team, as well as the Unit Development teams, the Annual Fund team, Alumni Relations team, the Office of Advancement, academic leaders of the University and the University's donors, prospects and volunteers. This person must also support the activities of the MA/SE team including administrative duties, event planning, travel arrangements/preparation, briefings and memos, tracking and PRM maintenance, assisting and supporting fundraisers in nearly all the aspects of what they do and various special projects and reports throughout the year. This position works directly with donors, prospects and volunteers; coordinates the budget activities of all members of the team; assists with personnel matters including maintaining personnel files, scheduling interviews, coordinating new employee orientations, and coordinating the annual performance appraisal process. This person will provide the MA/SE team with various reports including budgets, staff solicitation visits, weekly gift reports, regional performance measurement goals, donor information. S/he should be adept at research and highly technically literate, including expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and iPads. The DA will run PRM and GAMBIT reports, determine criteria and request downloads, enter contact reports and prospect strategies in donor profiles, maintain integrity of donor profiles and manage prospect lifecycle. This person will also be responsible for the gift process: entering asks, proposals, Gift Agreements/Statement of Intents, gift transmittal forms. S/he will provide customer service and stewardship with courteous, accurate and timely responses to inquiries from internal and external constituents. The DA should develop processes and procedures that enhance productivity and effectiveness and ensure projects are completed on time and all goals and deadlines are met. This position will be based in Washington, DC. 1-3 years of work experience, preferably in a development/fundraising environment. Position requires strong collaborative and project management skills; ability to prioritize projects; strong problem solving skills, flexibility; adaptability; sense of humor; ability to interact effectively with multiple staff members. Knowledge of the Washington DC Metro area and Southeast region is a strong plus. Ability to use good judgment a must. Ethical behavior in handling confidential material with sensitivity and discretion is extremely important.
