POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing our customers an exceptional banking experience through the relationships we build, the service and products we provide, and the professional image we portray. Tellers process financial transactions ensuring accuracy while maintaining confidentiality. This position is also responsible for identifying customer needs and suggesting solutions or directing the customer to the bank associate that can best meet their needs.

***This position is not assigned to a particular branch but moves around to different locations as needed weekly. You will be assigned to a central Hub and could travel up to a 50 mile radius with certain mileage reimbursements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service in completing transactions efficiently and in a friendly, professional, and confidential manner within assigned limits and established guidelines. Perform cash handling functions in an accurate and secure manner to include deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, and check cashing. Balance cash drawer and teller transactions within established guidelines.
  • Greet and communicate with all customers in a courteous and friendly manner. Discuss and assess their financial needs in order to identify and present Columbia Bank product and service offerings that will most effectively meet their needs. Cross sell appropriate products and services effectively to ensure established sales and referral goals and customer service standards are met. Participate in promotions and sales activities to ensure branch growth.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of money received for cash drawer and the prompt accounting or transfer of funds to safeguard against loss, and to establish and maintain cash drawer limits according to policy. Identify fraudulent activity to prevent potential loss to the bank; take appropriate corrective action or notify supervisor.
  • Perform and support daily tasks that maintain integrity of the branch. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: balance ATM, process night drop, balance negotiable instruments, process returned mail, balance credit card machine, monitor lobby rate sheets and brochures, process requests for stop payments and wire transfers.
  • Respond to and resolve routine customer questions and concerns in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner; refer more complex concerns to appropriate team member to expedite resolution and to ensure high quality service and optimum customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of new and existing products and services. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the various branch operational procedures. Read, understand, and follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Participate in training opportunities as presented.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.


  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, cash handling environment while maintaining a high energy and enthusiastic approach to a broad range of customer needs.
  • Must be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is flexible and able to adapt quickly to change priorities and tasks.
  • Regular and reliable transportation to be able to travel to multiple branch locations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain working knowledge of Columbia Bank policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times that ensures appropriate and professional behavior and communications with customers and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work all branch hours of operation.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Bi-lingual Skills

  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Boxes, supplies, and bags of coin are lifted on and off counters, tables, desks, and shelves up to a height of 6 feet.
  • Ability to operate office machines and equipment, such as personal computers, printers, copy machines, fax machines, calculators, and telephones.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers, co-workers, and others in-person and on the telephone.
  • Work activities involve combinations of sitting/standing for extended periods up to 5 hours at a time, kneeling, bending, pushing, lifting, and carrying.
  • Ability to perform repetitive finger, hand and arm movement.
