Feed Mill Manager


Southeast Iowa

. As a Feed Mill Manager you will lead the facility and the people to produce swine nutrition products as efficiently and as safely as possible while meeting all of Cargill's, corporate and government guidelines. This will include setting and maintaining a culture focused on safety, setting performance standards, establishing budgets, managing costs, hiring and training, employee relations and implementation of all maintenance and production programs and customer service excellence.

PLEASE NOTE: This Feed Mill Manager position is for a new swine specific mill dedicated to Cargill Pork. Mill construction will begin in Southeast Iowa in early spring 2013. The initial responsibilities for the


will be related to the construction project for this new location.

Principle Accountabilities:
20% - Cost, Productivity and Processes Improvement: To manage the facility and lead the people to produce our products safely and as efficiently as possible while meeting all other Corporate and Business Unit guidelines. To develop and coach all employees. To consistently do precisely what we intended to do by conforming to requirements. To manage the Feed Mill effectively in order to achieve Milling Cost goals while maintaining Safety, Quality, Service, Housekeeping and Property Conservation (Maintenance).

15% - Maintenance and Property Conservation: Maintain physical condition and appearance which reflects the standards of quality and service of our business and the character of our people professionally represents the brand image. Propose and execute on Capital Projects specific to Cargill’s Pork business and the location.

5% - Trucking: Insure third party trucking service agreements with Both Inbound and/or Outbound haulers are met, and the service and deliveries provide the expected value to the business and within the law.

10% - Administration: Provide accurate and timely information to those responsible for accounting and to understand and act on the information reports generated.

10% - Product Quality: To manufacture products which conform to the product formula and all other requirements of the product design, i.e., PDI, fines, size, appearance, density, etc.

10% - Safety: Prevent (therefore eliminate) Accidental injuries and reduce health exposures to extreme minimal levels through employee learning, safe behavior and the application of engineering principles to facilities, equipment and process design.

15% - Housekeeping and Appearance: Cargill Pork intends to assure that plants and offices are consistently representing our brand and meet all Cargill standards.

15% - Environmental: Insure that the location complies with local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations and that the facility is exemplifying good neighbors within the community.


High School Diploma or equivalent

Previous experience in a feed milling or manufacturing environment

Excellent communication skills (verbal or written).

Ability to organize multiple tasks and priorities

Ability to work effectively within a team

Proficient in MS Office Tools

4+ years supervisory experience in a feed milling or other manufacturing environment

Bachelors Degree preferred, or 4 years industry experience

Previous experience in livestock industry

Feed Mill Management Experience

Knowledge of Labor Relations and ability to organize and motivate people.

Past performance shows highly developed leadership skills.

30-Hour Construction Safety Course

Experience in Feed Mill construction/expansion projects
