Job Description:
CANBERRA is seeking a Drafter / Designer for our facility in Meriden, CT.

Responsibilities and duties include:
Assists engineers in the development of complex designs and detailed mechanical and electrical drawings of components and assemblies.

Works from rough sketches and verbal instructions.

Creates new or modified designs for new or existing products. Work is subject to engineering approval.

Ability to apply advanced drafting techniques and knowledge of practical, mechanical and fabrication problems.

Mechanical design.

Sheet metal design.

Product packaging (design).

3D modeling and drawings using Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software.

2D drafting and design using Autodesk AutoCAD 2D software.

Electrical interconnect drawings.

Integration/design of material handling equipment.

Use of materials including lead, tungsten, copper, steel, HDPE, and cadmium.

Verifies completed work, checking dimensions, materials to be used and quantities.

Coordinate with other internal departments affected by design development.

SAP Materials, ECM and BOM work.

Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Orders.

Mechanical process piping/tubing design.

Process instrumentation integration.

ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code knowledge/implementation.

Integration/design of material handling equipment.

Product packaging (design).

Qualifications

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

A.S. degree in design/drafting or similar discipline; or High School Diploma and 3-4 years related work experience.

Understand theory of design / drafting and related processes.

Prior experience using Iventor 3D software

The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.

6 years drafting; 2 years design. Previous experience with mechanical process piping/tubing design preferred.

Working knowledge of advanced drafting techniques, to be able tjo draft from rough sketches.
