Database Administrators serve as part of our DataCenter Operations team in ensuring the stability, accessibility and scalability of our production database platform serving as the engine for our SaaS ecommerce solutions. Given that we are a 24*7 operation servicing customers around the globe, stability, security and availability are critical.
As a member of the Database Operations team, you will play a role in the following:
Standard database administration tasks such as backup and restoring databases, new installations, upgrades, patching, and configuration
Day-to-day monitoring of production and internal environments
Planning for the future including scalability, recoverability, and identifying new technologies
Space management and infrastructure upgrade planning
Performance monitoring including identifying poorly performing queries/procedures/triggers, inefficient schema design, and high IO consumers
Deploying T-SQL scripts written by database engineers
Advising managers on database concepts and functional capabilities
Suggesting alternative solutions and designs, third party tools, etc.
We are currently deployed on SQL2012 and require experience with at least SQL 2005 and above
- Requires BS degree computer science or equivalent experience
- Requires 4+ years of database administration experience
- Required areas of expertise:
Experience in a 24x7 environment, to include on-call rotation
Strong experience with SQL Server Profiler and SSMS
Strong knowledge of highly available database architectures and infrastructure planning
Good communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process
Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment
Experience with SQL Server third party tools is a plus (ie., Quest, Idera, etc.)
