Registered Nurse licensure

  • The Nurse Manager oversees and directs the delivery of care to Medical/Surgical and Outpatient Cardiology patients, managing and supervising staff in both departments who are responsible for delivery of care to a variety of medical/surgical and outpatient cardiology patients, including telemetry cardiac monitoring, general surgery, general medical, stroke, pulmonary, post pace maker implant, orthopedics and urology. The Nurse Manager is responsible for mentoring staff in nursing processes when assessing patient problems; establishing plan of care and implementing nursing interventions; optimizing human resources by effectively managing department personnel through the use of progressive management processes and practices; participating and supporting development of the PBMC Management Team; developing and submitting departmental strategic goals and objectives within established time frames and in support of PBMC’s Strategic Plan for both Medical/Surgical and Outpatient Cardiology; and implementing an effective Performance Improvement Program in compliance with hospital policies and in accordance with other regulatory agencies. The Nurse Manager is an active member of the PBMC Management Team and acts as the primary liaison for our organ and tissue donation program. This position has 24/7 call coverage responsibility for the medical/surgical inpatient unit.

    Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (or the equivalent); 3-5 years nursing experience in a Medical/Surgical Unit, including at least 1 year as an assistant nurse manager or nurse supervisor; immediate eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine; immediate eligibility for ANCC Medical/Surgical certification within 6 months of hire or promotion; demonstrated competence in EKG, EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiology pharmacology, and ACLS certification.
