The Vice President, National Hospitalist Service Line (NHSL) provides administrative leadership for the NHSL and MBO Hospitalist Service Line Programs, across the multidisciplinary care continuum, inclusive of post- acute and innovative ambulatory services (e.g., extensivist clinics). This position will work collaboratively with CHI National Senior Physician leadership, MBO Hospitalist Service Line leadership, the National Clinical Services Group, Virtual Health Services, and Performance Excellence to lead adoption of clinical quality standards and performance improvement initiatives to reduce variation in cost and quality and enhance care coordination; identify strategic opportunities; and to establish operational standards for hospitalist programs within CHI. Working with MBO Senior Hospitalist Service Line leadership, CHI National Senior Physician leadership and external partners, leads the development of the service line’s position in and contribution to the clinically integrated network
1. Provides administrative leadership and defined vision for the National Hospitalist Service Line. Develops strategic objectives and priorities for system initiatives, engaging senior leadership and hospitalist service line senior leadership to identify program strategies, goals, and metrics to enhance MBO hospitalist services across the care continuum, utilizing identified best practices.
2. Oversees the development and expansion of clinical quality initiatives, to include implementation and adoption of care standards and pathways for the service line, including post acute care, working with senior hospitalist leadership, the Clinical Services Group and Performance Excellence/Supply Chain.
3. Develops infrastructure and foundation at the local and national level to utilize and assess data analytics to drive quality and performance outcomes, strategic decision making, and enhanced value.
Leads the development of innovative models of care delivery, working with MBO Hospitalist Service Line Senior leadership, CHI Physician Enterprise and Strategy Executives, CHI Virtual Health Services, and both internal and external partners, including academic providers, to address the management of chronic disease both in the acute care setting and through clinically integrated networks and expansion of post acute relationships.
Provides leadership for new program development related to the advent of new technology, leveraging the CHI National Hospitalist service line to expand market presence, and develop centers of excellence across CHI MBOs.
Provides leadership and support, collaborating with Payer Strategies, MBO Hospitalist Service Line Senior Leadership, Finance and Strategy leaders, on the development of risk based payment models, such as bundled payment.
In collaboration with the CHI Institute of Research & Innovation and the Center for Clinical Trials, develops MBO clinical research initiatives which promote expanded MBO involvement in research activities.
This position is the National Hospitalist Service Line liaison to all national groups and coordinates directly with national groups such as the Employed Physician Integration Council (EPIC), Physician Executive Council, Strategy, Clinical Leadership Council (CLC), Performance Management/Supply Chain, and Information Technology Services (ITS).
Masters Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field required.
Minimum of ten years experience in hospitalist program management required; clinical experience preferred
Familiarity with hospitalist care delivery, business development, strategy and quality initiatives, and clinical research; experience working with physician groups and alignment initiatives required
Supervisory experience required; previous work demonstrates progressive management responsibility (mid to senior-level management) and effective leadership skills
Past experience in new program development; demonstrated ability of managing complex projects to successful completion
