Masonicare, in operation for over a century, is the largest not-for-profit senior focused healthcare provider in the State of Connecticut. We offer a full range of senior-focused inpatient and outpatient healthcare services, including our acute care hospital unit, short-term rehabilitation and inpatient hospice, all under one roof conveniently located in the center of the state in Wallingford, CT. We also have Dementia LTC units and a Geriatric Acute Psych unit.We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager for Acute and Psychiatric Services. THIS IS A FULL TIME/DAY SHIFT, EXEMPT STAFF POSITION. Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Vice President for Nursing is responsible for oversight of all clinical services provided to the acute/psychiatric. Ensures regulatory and JCAHO compliance. General Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitates cooperative efforts of all disciplines as it relates to patient care. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, quality assessment and improvement programs, and safety, environmental and infection control standards. Works collaboratively with Clinical Nurse Managers to evaluate data and implement change to improve Quality Indicators and Quality Measures scores. Understands the use of chemicals under the "Right to Know" standard. Understands and follows "Standard Precautions" and reports all unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision, including change in patient status, broken or malfunctioning equipment or anything that could be a potential threat or danger to a patient. Assigns staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Work with nursing administration in capital budget requests. Investigates and assesses new products. Inservice all new equipment and products to appropriate staff. Implement use of standardized equipment and procedures throughout the facility whenever possible. Assists with care and maintenance of patient care equipment and supplies Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, research activities, inservice meetings and workshops Maintains and demonstrates current knowledge of techniques, guidelines and regulations. Interprets relevant laws, policies and standards for effective and accurate implementation Attends meetings as required. Participates in medical, administrative and educational, hazardous waste, safety, wellness, pharmacy and therapeutics, integrated care and infection control committees as designated. Serves as a resource for all Clinical Nurse Managers. Performs additional duties as assigned. Acute and Psychiatric Care Duties and Responsibilities:Oversees the clinical care provided to acute and psychiatric patients to assure that the high standard of care as determined by Masonicare Healthcare Center's mission, vision and values is achieved.Evaluates continued stays in ACU/GMPP based on standardized criteria.Reviews all Incident Reports from acute units for completeness.Gathers and presents utilization review data on acute and psych units.Evaluates the annual performance of the acute care staff. Minimum Qualifications:Education: State of CT RN in Good Standing, Master's required; MSN in Psychiatric Nursing preferred Experience:MINIMUM Three years relevant experience in management position in a healthcare environment.
