POSITION: Safety Manager

LOCATION: Greer, SC (Greenville Area - Corporate Office)

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary functions of this role are the design, development, and implementation of HSE programs that ensure a safe, accident free and healthy work environment in our distribution branches throughout the US and Canada. The safety manager will drive continuous improvement efforts to ensure success in achieving compliance and a best in class safety culture at all levels within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead efforts to drive a best in class safety conscious culture in all areas of distribution business including warehouse operations, fleet operations, and vehicle maintenance

Achieve and maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, CSA, and Worker's Compensation regulations

Develop, disseminate, and maintain corporate safety materials including: Compliance , Safety Manual , Training calendar and materials , Safety reference materials, Guardian Building Products Distribution safety metrics (OSHA recordable rates, Lost Time Incident rates, significant incidents, etc)

Lead incident investigations for determination of root cause(s) and recommend and ensure correction action for future prevention. Communicate lessons learned across the company

Manage Workers Compensation process to minimize claims and loss

Develop a process to ensure warehouse/distribution centers achieve compliance in safe working conditions, housekeeping standards, powered equipment specifications and use, and physical methods of accomplishing assigned tasks

Identify and deliver standardized safety training on a continuous basis to branch locations throughout the US and Canada

Understand and remain current on environmental requirements to ensure compliance

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health & Safety (or equivalent) and 5+ years experience leading corporate level safety programs

Experience developing, maintaining and training on safety compliance metrics

Experience leading safety compliance efforts in a distribution environment

Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations [OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, Worker's Comp]

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and/or Occupational Health & Safety Technician (OHST) / Certified Loss Control Specialist (CLCS)

OSHA 501 (Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer) certification
