Job Description:
The prospective applicant should have a working
knowledge and experience with satellite and microwave
communications, to include; up/down converters, modems,
SSPA’s, LNA’a, multiplexers, and the various IF and RF
bands utilized by common carriers (C-Band and Ku-Band
for satellite, 5/6 Ghz, 15 Ghz, 18 Ghz, and 23 Ghz for
Microwave), and redundancy sub-systems. Prospective
technician understands cable loss and cable/antenna
system sweep procedures. In addition to this, a basic
working knowledge of IP networks is required.
Technician should also be familiar with monitor and
control systems, and baseband subsystems that interface
with end user (T1, DS3, Fiber, etc. transmission
equipment). A basic knowledge of telephone switching
would be a plus. Termination of DB connectors and
RS-232, RS-485, and G.703 (DS1) specifications needed.
Technician should understand both -48 VDC and 24 VDC
power systems, and how to work safely in this low
voltage HIGH potential current environment.
Technician should have working knowledge of
communications grounding, bonding, and lightning
suppression.
Technician should have a working knowledge of waveguide,
heliax, coax, associated impedances and connector
termination skills, and working knowledge of
transmission line dehydration systems.
Technician should be able to work in a Central Office
environment regarding cable management and installation
techniques.
Technician should have working knowledge of the
following test equipment; spectrum analyzers, frequency
counters, RF power meters, Anritsu cable network
analyzers, multi-meters, battery test meters, and
DS1/DS3/OTDR test sets. Ground system test sets would be
a plus.
Marine Corp with 2830 or 2840 MOS experience a plus.
Navy ET experience a plus. Army or Air force MOS
experience also considered.
A high school diploma or equivalent and 2-5 years of
previous RF/Communications experience or an equivalent
combinations of education and/or experience.
Must have a current, valid driver's license and be able
to obtain/maintain a security clearance if needed.
Hiring is contingent upon successfully passing a
pre-employment drug screen and background check.
