Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Paralegal to be co-located in Littleton, CO and Denver, CO. This role reports directly to the Associate General Counsel - Litigation.

This position will provide support for the legal department with emphasis on Litigation, Intellectual Property and Compliance. This is truly a great opportunity to be a part of an evolving legal organization that is focused on developing its members.

Responsibilities:
·

Assist in house and outside counsel with factual development of litigated matters and discovery efforts, including factual investigation, information gathering inside and outside of Johns Manville, document preservation, collection, review, and production.

·

Issue and manage legal holds and coordinate eDiscovery preservation and production.

Will also be involved in locating and producing relevant hard copy documents.

·

Assisting with efficiency and other improvements within the department.

·

Coordinating with the litigation team, which could include assisting and coordinating with eDiscovery support specialists and administrative assistants; outside attorneys, paralegals and case assistants; in-house IT specialists and outside vendors.

·

Assist in the administration of JM global patent portfolio.

·

Assist in preparation of ongoing training to all business units related to compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies.

·

Draft various legal and corporate documents, including status reports and correspondence and memorandum.

·

Assist with the drafting and archival of IP-related agreements and documents.

·

Perform research into legal, regulatory and policy related issues.

·

Assist with trademark searches, registration and maintenance.

·

Assist in the maintenance of accurate data regarding workflow and case status on all items in IP department, including invention statistics for research organization.

·

Respond to subpoenas, regulatory audits and discovery requests.

·

Tender insured claims and interface with risk management and insurers.

·

Assist in accurate budget and financial controls.

·

Assist in the development and management of internal control and audit systems to prevent and detect noncompliance with company policies, laws and regulations.

·

Assist in the implementation of programs and projects designed to ensure the organization’s continued compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements:
·

Bachelor or Associate Degree with equivalent experience

·

Paralegal Certificate from ABA Certified program

·

3-5 years paralegal experience within litigation and corporate environment

·

Experience in managing a large volume of litigated and non-litigated disputes or matters

·

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within various deadlines

·

Proven ability to build relationships within the company to quickly and confidentially gather documents and information

·

Ability to assist in administration of legal team functions (budgets, legal holds, standardized best practices)

·

Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive and/or proprietary information

·

Must be highly organized, self-motivated and able to work independently and as a part of a team

·

Demonstrated maturity, and discretion and ability to work in a small team environment

·

Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, matter management applications and Pacer.

Additional Consideration Given To Those With:
·

Familiarity with the Bridgeway suite of legal products

·

Experience in a technology organization or willingness to learn corporate IP

·

Experience in construction / product defect litigation

·

Previous in-house experience

·

IP experience

·

Successful applicant will also have a strong well documented information technology background and be able to understand and obtain records utilizing the corporation’s data map infrastructure.

·

Experience with document retention and litigation support is preferred, while a thorough understanding of industry best practices in eDiscovery project management, processes and protocols (EDRM) and related software programs is required.

Examples of software that a well qualified candidate may have experience with would include Relativity, Concordance, and/or Summation.
