  • Job Summary: The Patient Service Representative/Operator works under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor/Manager in the central communications center of the Pediatric Clinics. Serves as the “first line” in customer service and public relations, ensuring all telephone calls are promptly processed. Responsible for making appointments for patients, verifying insurance information, and maintaining accurate, orderly schedules for clinic physicians. Assists with front office PSR duties as needed. May require travel to off-site clinics. Performs other duties, as needed. Job Specifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Six months of customer service, general office or Receptionist vocational training experience required; (medical field preferred). Prefer one year of telephone or switchboard experience. Requires efficient use of computer, transferring of telephone calls, and accurately taking and relaying messages. Word processing/computer experience or education required. Requires ability to work well on a team to accomplish specific goals; teach employees new procedures; demonstrate use of equipment/supplies; communicate effectively by phone/in person with department staff and outside sources. Requires ability to prioritize variety of assignments; follow moderate to complex instructions; work independently with limited supervision; proofread documents for content/context accuracy; recognize and appropriately report safety problems or other problem situations. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Requires adequate visual, hearing and tactile acuity to proficiently perform essential duties. Requires reliable transportation for travel to off-site clinic locations, as needed.
