The Kansas City Research Automation department is seeking a Senior Java Developer. Responsibilities include all phases of application development and support for complex projects/applications. Applicant should possess advanced knowledge in application development and very strong general analytical and problem solving skills.
Participates in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle to implement complex applications/technology solutions. Utilizes industry, System, Bank, and department standards/best practices.
Responsible for independently designing, coding, and documenting solutions – making technical and coding decisions independently on a daily basis, within the scope of architectural guidance.
Analyze requirements and develop technical design for applications.
Interacts with business partners in a support role. Participates in technical design, problem identification/resolution, and other support activities.
Associate’s degree specializing in computer science, or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree specializing in computer science preferred
Advanced skill in at least one programming language that is part of the District and/or FR System’s Application Development profile required; experience with multiple languages preferred
At least four years of relevant work experience
Good knowledge of industry standards/best practices surrounding all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
Demonstrated proficiency in relational database systems (PostgreSQL or Greenplum a plus)
Demonstrated proficiency with hand-written SQL and query troubleshooting/performance tuning
Demonstrated proficiency with UNIX/Linux (e.g. shell scripting)
Demonstrated proficiency with Java Enterprise Applications (e.g. J2EE, Spring, etc) in a UNIX/Linux environment
Good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated strong initiative and organization skills
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Good project management skills
