Produces quality fluoroplastic ventilation tubes and plastic disposable instruments efficiently and in accordance with written process/print specifications. Sets up all molding machines for operators. Properly documents shop order traveler with appropriate quality assurance information for product traceability.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
Produces quality plastic vent tubes and disposable instruments in accordance with written process/print specifications. Duties include, but not limited to:
a) Prepare raw plastic material for production by following written process utilizing a weight scale.
b) Labels material with appropriate quality control information and stores material in a designated area.
c) With the use of either a digital or triple beam scale measure out and hand mix correct ratios of colorant, additives and virgin material per process specification
d) Loads prepared material in barrel and operates injection-molding machine following written process parameters for heat and pressure settings.
e) Responsible for careful handling of tooling during removal of parts between each cycle.
f) Performs visual inspection of parts for deformities.
g) Performs all handwork such as trimming according to proper instructions.
h) Perform on all machine, all mold, inserts and color changes as needed per production schedule or as directed by the team leader.
i) Performs preventive maintenance on molds and injection molding machines using appropriate software.
Maintains shop order integrity at all times, including counts and quality control information and informs team leader of any problems involving production, quality, or safety.
Properly documents shop order traveler with appropriate quality assurance information for product traceablility.
Follows GMP, FDA, ISO, and Gyrus ENT operational procedures.
Maintains uniforms and work area in compliance with Gyrus ENT controlled environment procedures including scrap removal and machine cleaning.
Performs other essential job functions as directed by the team leader.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS these are non-essential job duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
First Shift Employee:
a) Operate multiple molding presses
b) Perform all tooling preventive maintenance on molds
c) Responsible for department and plant auxiliary equipment start-up especially after power failures
d) Assist supervisor with data collection on designated projects; attend all meetings and provide manufacturing input where assigned
e) Provide leadership in the absence of supervisor to support first shift operations
Second Shift Employee:
a) Operate multiple molding presses
b) Perform all set-ups as required
c) Perform all tooling preventive maintenance on molds
d) Responsible for the proper start-up and shutdown of plant auxiliary equipment, including security system
e) Demonstrate leadership in order to maintain second shift operations.
All Other Essential Duties as directed.
High School diploma or equivalent; secondary education and plastic molding accredited courses preferred.
Minimum six (6) months molding machine operator experience and six (6) months injection molding set up operator experience. Ability to read and
interpret blueprints, as well as a 6” scale and a dial caliper. Basic molding knowledge. (test administered). Experience with mixing plastic components. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time. Flexible attitude required to handle
different job assignments. Exposed to heated molds and molding equipment.
Must use hands and fingers to hold and manipulate small parts and tools such as tweezers,
razor blades, picks, airbrushes, cutters, scissors, and pliers. Need use of feet to operate
foot switches. Hands, arms and upper body must twist and rotate for extended periods.
Good hand/eye coordination required.
Must be able to communicate with co-workers, group leaders and supervisors in order to
receive and give instructions. Must work under microscope for extended periods of time
