Eaton Corporation’s Power and Motion Control's Division of Eaton Aerospace, has an opening for a Lead Engineer. The position is based in Jackson, MS.
The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
The individual performs engineering assignments involving considerable responsibility, including design and design analysis of complex products, analysis of engineering problems, the development of significant criteria to support design concepts, etc.
A.Performs a variety of design and engineering calculations generally involving the application of advanced but standard mathematical formulas and available tabled or charted data. May derive formulas for the set up and solution of engineering problems.
B.Preparation of test procedures and specifications in conjunction with engineering assignment. Advise laboratory personnel relative to equipment operation, test requirements and procedures, etc. Evaluate test results to determine the adequacy of equipment design and/or determine if design modifications are needed.
C.Manage engineering service group resources that are conducting tasks such as drafting or analysis.
D.Analyze and prepare designs for component or subassemblies, standard products, or simple systems to develop criteria for determining design modifications. Drive cost reduction results through analysis and preparation of engineering change proposals. Evaluate and establish root cause and corrective actions for unit non-conformances. Address problems/issues through root cause and corrective actions.
E.Develop design concepts and prepare layouts using ProEngineer to check operational feasibility. Prepare a variety of detailed engineering drawings that fully define the piece parts of this design concept while utilizing accepted manufacturing practices.
F.Prepare engineering proposals by compiling, preparing and providing technical data. Estimate engineering effort required for new projects and outline the proposed design concept accurately enough for the unit cost to be estimated.
G.Coordinate various phases of large scale design projects at a technical level compatible with this classification including recommending scope of project, cost and schedule estimates, developing a design to meet specifications, liaison with other concerned activities, etc.
H.Prepare and conduct design reviews and design discussions directly with the customer with no guidance or oversight. These meetings are to be conducted in such as way as to be seen by the customer as technically competent within the field of hydraulic components.
I.Mentor less senior engineers and possibly have less senior engineers as direct reports.
