SUMMARY OF POSITION :
This position will be responsible for managing the sourcing of energy and facilities support services required at Mallinckrodt facilities globally. Energy requirements include electricity, natural gas, and other fuels consumed at all facilities. Support services include building infrastructure maintenance, construction services, security equipment and services, janitorial services, waste disposal and food services, The total managed spend will be over $60 million per year with a focus on effective bidding of contracts and risk management.
The position will develop annual energy and services budgets for all locations, develop and manage commodity bids, and recommend and implement risk management strategies to offset market volatility and achieve costs within energy budgets. Knowledge of regulated and restructured markets for electric power and natural gas is essential. The position will also identify and manage projects that generate sustainable productivity improvements in site operating costs with regard to all supporting services required at both manufacturing and commercial sites across the global site footprint.
The position will work closely with operating sites and with the engineering function to identify and manage demand management projects that improve the energy efficiency of operations concerning equipment guidelines and other facilities requirements. This individual will manage competitive bids and negotiate contracts with major suppliers of services and energy infrastructure and work with individual sites to identify and implement cost-effective solutions that reduce energy and site operating costs.
The Category Manager will be expected to deliver savings by working in a networked team environment to leverage common requirements across facilities with a diversity of products and process operations. The role will require effective negotiating skills as well as the ability to enlist support from engineering and operations staff across many levels in the organization. The role will support functional leadership by providing subject matter expertise for key commodities and will also challenge spend behavior and ensure the strategic sourcing process and decision-making are firmly embedded in each function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Manage all category contracts and apply Key Supplier Management processes for the most critical suppliers. Develop strong support relationships with functional leaders and key site operations personnel across all business units. Leverage spend through sourcing, demand management, and best practices. Develop and implement aggressive cost reduction strategies. Closely coordinate with peers in other world areas to leverage common strategies, supplier contracts and practices. Measure, track and report results. Prepare and make presentations to senior management concerning major projects and milestones. Influence thought leaders within the organization and in our suppliers’ organization to identify and implement best practices. Maintain awareness of changing market conditions and technologies that create new opportunity for cost savings. In support of functional leadership, help establish priorities and resources needed to deliver the annual cost reduction plans for these functional areas. Implement Key Supplier Management for the most important suppliers in these categories. Ensure metrics, governance, and actions are in place for continuous improvement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :Education required/ preferred:
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
8-10 years progressive experience. Preferred candidate will have subject matter expertise and direct sourcing experience in energy and facilities operations services.
Well regarded in having built strong, progressive relationships with stakeholders without formal authority. Track record of delivering results in complex/ambiguous environments.
Track record of building strong sourcing relationships in and leading multi-functional teams.
Knowledge of relevant commodities and markets.
Proven contract negotiation skills.
Demonstrated written and verbal leadership skills.
Strong interpersonal communications and the ability to work independently and across multiple functions.
Training and team building experience a plus.
Ability to work well within a dynamic, ever-changing environment.

This position reports to the Category Director- Energy/MRO/Facilities Management and works closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Facilities, Real Estate and Finance functions. The candidate must be able to influence site management, budget holders, and motivate small teams.
