JOB DESCRIPTION/POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position involves the design and development of instrumentation systems based upon programmable logic controller (PLC) hardware and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software. Personnel will operate within a NASA and contractor design team for the development of new and/or modifications to existing launch vehicle ground support equipment instrumentation systems. Architecture design, hardware/software specification development, and hands-on laboratory testing will be core responsibilities within the design development team. Activities will involve the performance of delegated tasks from senior system designers as well as individual, autonomous execution of design, prototype and test lifecycles.
REQUIRED SKILLS/SPECIAL TRAINING:
The candidate must possess solid knowledge of PLC-based instrumentation systems, from component and specification nomenclature to SCADA programming capabilities. AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical experience is highly desirable.
Candidates must demonstrate good interpersonnal and communication skills that will be crucial for operation within the diverse design team environment. Experience with system design lifecycle methodologies is required and experience with KSC instrumentation system architectures is highly desirable.
EDUCATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field
Electrical Engineer 6 – requires 15 yrs experience
Electrical Engineer 5 – requires 10 yrs experience
Electrical Engineer 4 – requires 7 yrs experience
Electrical Engineer 3 – requires 5 yrs experience
