This is a middle level Oracle Database Administration position. The expectations are that all aspects of relational database technologies and utilities are clearly understood and can be easily learned. Work closely with Systems, Production Support, Development and other teams to address issues related to managed areas and provide support as needed. Because of the nature of this position technical support will exceed the normal eight hour work day and will be part of the mandatory Database on-call schedule supporting the Worthington Industries Helpdesk.
Clear understanding of the Oracle RDBMS architecture of Oracle 9i,10g and 11g
Clear understanding and work experience on Oracle utilities ASM, RAC, SQL, PL/SQL, OEM, Import, Export, AWR, ADDM, TTS, etc.
Clear understanding and work experience on Oracle backup and recovery, using RMAN
Installation of Oracle database server software and client software and other middleware softwares
Good understanding of Unix / Linux operating systems
Unix shell scripting
Installation, configuration, administration and tuning of Oracle Databases
Upgrade/Migrate databases from various versions on multiple platforms (HP-UX/Linux)
Performance Tuning of Databases
Monitor database health and recommend best practices
Manage storage capacity of the system
Participate in Data/database Management strategy and provide/implement solutions
Perform database backups/ recovery
Participate in Disaster Recovery tests
Work closely with Systems, Production Support, Development and other teams to address issues related to managed areas and provide support as needed.
Knowledge on SQL-Server
24/7 availability as needed and on-call during afterhours, weekends and holidays in rotation with other DBAs.
Mentor/Cross- Train other DBAs as needed
Other duties and tasks as assigned
Good documentation Skills
Knowledge on Oracle APEX, E-Business Suite and Data Warehouse will be a plus
Good understanding on Oracle 10g and 11g RAC and ASM.
Ability to accurately diagnose problems and supply a viable solution and implement the solution.
Setting up Standby databases using Oracle Data Guard
SQL Server knowledge is desirable
