The New School is seeking a results-oriented individual to work as part of a team providing programming and project support for Ellucian’s Banner ERP system (an Oracle-based integrated suite of administrative software). This position primarily supports the Banner Student module and an in-house developed enhancement for managing all aspects of part-time faculty administration. The successful candidate will identify and analyze user needs and then develop and implement effective solutions tailored to the specific situation.

This includes:

• Development, analysis, design, testing, implementation and documentation of database applications using tools such as Oracle SQL and PL/ SQL , Pro*C, Toad and Oracle Hyperion Brio Intelligence Designer
• Consulting with various university departments and users on system design, programming and user support to further integrate Ellucian’s Banner functionality and improve related business processes
• Serving as a point of contact for the user community when problems occur
• Working with the user community to evaluate, test and implement software releases for enterprise and third-party software
• Maintaining competency in emerging technologies appropriate to university business needs
• Modifying current programs to correct problems or to enhance programs to meet current user requirements
• Providing technical assistance to colleagues, participating in the development and implementation of standards for software tools and working closely with DBA and system administrators on technical implementation issues

Minimum Qualifications:
• Advanced competency with SQL , PL/ SQL and Oracle databases
• Solid understanding of database design and ERP models
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high quality
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and respond to day-to-day problems while maintaining progress on regularly scheduled project work
• Exemplary interpersonal skills and a genuine appreciation of working with diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
• Pro*C, Red Hat Linux, Perl, shell scripting, APEX , Java, JavaScript, Groovy/Grails, Adobe Flex and Toad
• Experience with Oracle Hyperion Brio Intelligence Designer, MS Access, Crystal Reports or Evisions Argos
• Higher education administration or other non-profit organization work experience
• Knowledge of Higher Education administrative systems, Ellucian’s Banner (emphasis on Student module) experience a plus
