Computech is looking for an innovative and driven GIS Developer to join our multidisciplinary team of technologists. This position reflects the growing importance of GIS in numerous sectors of society and requires an individual with a unique set of education and skills. Our clients include government agencies, large corporations, and major associations.
As part of our growing GIS team, you will work to empower our clients with data and applications that support better decision-making and performance. You will work create innovative web-based geospatial solutions, including web mapping applications and geospatial web services. You will embark upon multifaceted and challenging problems of significant scope and importance.
The ideal candidate must be passionate about their work, have excellent problem solving skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with the latest technologies.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and support web-based GIS applications Help define and document standards for geospatial data and application framework Provide GIS, database, and mapping support to the user community Participate in all phases of the system development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment Contribute to shaping the GIS team and Computech’s GIS offering Identify GIS opportunities outside of current client base and meet with prospective customers where necessary
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field Experience with front end Javascript mapping API (Google Maps, ArcGIS Server Javascript API, OpenLayers, Yahoo, etc.) Experience with geospatial data formats such as shapefiles, KML, GeoJSON as well as Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards and protocols (WMS, WFS, SLD, etc.) Proficient with web development languages and protocols such as Javascript, HTML, AJAX, XML, SQL Good understanding of enterprise software architecture Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, Geoserver, Unix/Linux shell scripting, Actionscript/Flash development highly desired Knowledge of ESRI Suite of products Preferred Skills and Experience:
Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) experience a plus iPhone/Android development a plus
