The Vascular Technician has the unique opportunity to enhance patient care by collaborating with Vascular Surgeons to conduct studies. In this role, you will be responsible for performing vascular studies and electrocardiograms on assigned patients as well as maintaining necessary equipment.

Responsibilities include:
1. Performs vascular studies on referred patients.

Evaluates patient's medical status and medications prior to study.
Measures and calculates pressure utilizing pulse wave methods on extremities of the body (carotid, legs, thoracic).
Conducts in-house studies referred by Vascular Surgeon or specialist; conducts studies for out-patients as referred.
Notifies appropriate Surgeon when study needs to be reviewed.
2. Performs electrocardiograms upon request on patients within the Hospital.

Places electrodes on patient's chest, arms and legs; performs stress testing and halter monitoring.
Completes requisitions submitted in a timely, neat and accurate manner.
Reports irregularities to the Doctor or Nurse on the floor promptly, and runs a rhythm strip when called for.
3. Maintains equipment by cleaning it and keeping it fully equipped for use.

Washes the machines after each patient use.
Ensures equipment is stocked with necessary supplies to perform daily vascular studies.
4. Performs organizational tasks within the Department.

Organizes workload.
Maintains filing and enters vascular studies to remain current.
5. Uses Infection Control practices and procedures including, but not limited to, ensuring sterilized materials meet standards; handwashing and gloving techniques; and identifies, monitors and adheres to sterile boundaries.

Qualifications:
High School Graduate or Equivalency Diploma.
Courses in medical technology and EKG-related field preferred.
Certified in Vascular Technology by an approved course of study.
Must be a RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist.
Two (2) years technical experience in vascular technology required and 4-5years experience in the field preferred.
