Create post-mortem plans for estates settled by Wells Fargo that are detailed in analysis, but understandable and meaningful to the reader. Serve as the subject matter expert during all phases of the estate and trust post-death settlement process, potentially including preparation of Federal and State Estate and Inheritance Tax Returns and Fiduciary Income Tax Returns for the estates. Partner directly with Estate Administrators and Relationship Managers across the nation and other parties, which might comprise of family/beneficiaries, outside legal counsel and CPAs. Ability to create effective distribution schedules or provide analysis of the same.
Requires a high level of expertise in the estate and fiduciary tax field. Duties may include: Applying knowledge and experience to assist with very complex estates; Participating in and preparing presentations to secure new business opportunities; Analysis of complex estate planning documents; Reviewing all financial data and prior tax returns to identify assets, planning opportunities and prior tax issues; Preparing, coordinating preparation and providing a high level of expertise pertaining to complex state and Federal estate, inheritance, gift and fiduciary tax returns; Reviewing decedent's individual income tax returns, as well as partnership and corporate tax returns for potential issues; Maintaining a high level of knowledge on Federal and state probate, trust and tax laws; Recognized as an expert in one or more areas of tax law; Coordinate and participate in tax audits with the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities; Performing as a liaison to attorneys and accountants on complex tax issues; Applying extensive specialized knowledge to our clients' unique situations; Reviewing terminating trust for any potential estate, gift, inheritance or GST tax issues; and Acting as an internal consultant to other WMG groups.
May act as a mentor.
Basic Qualifications
7+ years relationship management experience.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of prior direct experience in estate planning/tax. In-depth knowledge of gift taxes. Working knowledge of Generation-Skipping Transfer Taxes.
Requires a broad base of financial knowledge, including estate planning, retirement, insurance, time-value of money, and investments. Must be able to see the _big picture_ with respect to a decedent's estate, issues for the beneficiaries, and potential sales opportunities for the Bank. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form with beneficiaries, outside counsel and accountants, and internal partners.
Must be able to work independently. Detail oriented.
Preferred Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Working knowledge of community property laws.
