What we’re looking for? Editorial Director

Location: This position is based in our Midtown, NYC Office.

Position Overview:
The Editorial Director will be responsible for creating the voice for Keep.com, and will manage every word on the Keep.com service, playing a significant role in product development and consumer marketing. The role of content on Keep.com is twofold: Content as Product and Content as Community, and as such, the position will liaise closely with both the Product and Marketing teams.

Content as Product: The Consumer Experience. Define the consumer experience we’re trying to communicate and support it with our content ingestion and filtering:

Source selection – what types of feeds (e.g. FB, coupons, news) get in, why, and how do they get interacted with by the user
Brand curation – what brands do and don’t meet our vision
Content curation – what guidelines do we use to filter content into/out of the service
Classification prioritization – what tech roadmap gives us the most bang-for-buck in giving consumers a good experience

Content as Community: Using content to create and retain a large and passionate user base:

Establish an editorial roadmap and managing it to execution
Measure consumer response to primary content to shape the primary content roadmap
Measure consumer response to editorial content to shape the editorial roadmap (e.g. holidays, happenings, etc.)
Build engaging tools and tactics to create on-site engagement and reason-for-return. Specifically, social tools, “gamification” tactics and compelling “must-see” content that drives frequent repeat visits and user recommendations to friends.
“Zeitgeist” collections based on consumer trends outside the site
“Trend” collections based on consumer behavior in the site
“Editorial” collections based on what content we have
“Community” collections featuring or based on community (comment) activity
The voice of Keep.com. Writing all content for and related-to the service:

Maintenance of a daily blog – lite tech skills as well as content. Familiarity with blogging tools is a must
All social media messaging including apps, games, contests, posts… driving engagement
Every word on the service – from initial registration page through to error pages and customer email copy. Every word.
Communications assistance throughout the company as needed (publicity, sales materials, implementation documentation, etc… the voice of the company to the world)
Management of relationships with relevant bloggers and influences that will drive Keep.com’s success with consumers
In addition, the role may include being a spokesperson for Keep.com in consumer-facing media

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience, passion and a keen knowledge for advertising, e-commerce, shopping, and deal-seeking
Excellent copy-writing skills with a distinct and consistent voice
Experience creating and presenting content for maximum SEO value
Lite tech skills to maintain their own blog and high-frequency communications across the platform
Social media experience, building and maintaining engaging dialogue with relevant consumers to drive sign-in and frequency of visits to Keep.com
Digital start-up experience a plus
Demonstration of experience building a large following through content, SEO, and the “tactics” that drive audiences
Open-minded “test & learn” philosophy

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
You must possess 5+ years editorial content management, preferably with an emphasis on marketing, advertising, retail or the “offers & deals” segment
You have a keen interest in American culture, especially our obsession with shopping/ coupons/deals and social media fluency
You should currently work at an online media publishing company
You definitely have excellent communication skills, especially written- this job writes
You are highly organized and detail oriented
