The Positionâ€™s role is to provide vision, leadership and is accountable for developing and implementing technology initiatives for United Healthcareâ€™s individual line of business (UHOne). In this exciting role, you will direct the planning and implementation of UHOneâ€™s IT systems staff in support of business operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development.
The position directs managers and senior level professional staff to resolve highly complex or unusual business problems that affect major business functions and is expected to demonstrate creativity, knowledge of the business environment and core business requirements and strategies.
The position is expected to effectively interact with the senior leadership of UHOne as well as the leadership of the IT functions of United Health Group. Manages and ensures compliance with designated IT structures and processes and the regulatory requirements of the Industry. Manages knowledge of and ability to leverage IT industry technologies and trends. The position will also be expected to participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the UHOne as a member of the senior management team.
Bachelorâ€™s degree required, advanced degree preferred, e.g., MBA, MHA
Minimum of fifteen years information technology experience, insurance industry expertise preferred
Proven track record (i.e. ten plus years) of progressively increasing responsibility for IT and business management,
Experience successfully managing large, complex organizations
Experience working in partnership with key management personnel, including operations, sales, finance and legal
Strong negotiation skills and effective management expertise of external vendors
Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills both internal and external
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
Must be located in the Indianapolis, IN office
Ability to travel as required
Skill in developing business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives
Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
Excellent understanding of project management principles
Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
