Cargill's meat business, headquartered in Wichita, KS, is comprised of beef, pork, turkey, value added meats, case ready, distribution and feeder operations. The job responsibilities of an Operations Associate are to learn the work process flow within a particular department. The associate will be trained in a number of areas to learn basic skills necessary to understand meat processing. These skills include:
A new hire will participate in a training program (up to 6 months in length) consisting of rotations through the various departments, online and live e-learning modules and formal leadership development at the Wichita headquarters. Upon completion of training, an Operations Associate’s first assignment will be at the individual’s training location as a department supervisor in the fabrication, cut, slaughter, primary processing, further processing, or de-bone departments.

- Determine & manage yields
- Meat variances
- USDA regulations and requirements
- Labor costs, fixed costs, variable costs, packaging and ingredient costs.
- Additional training in people leadership skills, OSHA requirements, ramp in and rotation schedules, safety training, HACCP, good manufacturing practices (GMP), coaching and HR practices.
A candidate’s first assignment will be at one of our plant locations in Beardstown, IL, Dayton, VA, Fresno, CA, Fort Morgan, CO, Plainview, TX, Schuyler, NE, or Wyalusing, PA.
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Ag-Business, Ag-Econ, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related fields
