The Project Engineer will play an important role in the first Siemens US. Wind nacelle assembly facility in Hutchinson, Kansas. As part of the production technology team, the Project Engineer will help ensure quality and safety in production activities for a start up plant of 450 employees. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to lead and influence how we provide quality manufacturing operations in the Wind business. They must have a strong desire to participate in a new, exciting, and growing industry and be able to turn ambiguous situations into best practices.

Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will have 4-8 years of manufacturing, operations, electrical, and hydraulic systems experience. Ability to lead, motivate, and share ideas is key in this role. Knowledge of wind turbines and nacelles are preferred but not required. Experience in high voltage test systems is strongly preferred. Prior experience in assembly and large part manufacturing is preferred. Background in LEAN manufacturing principles beneficial. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Project lead and coordination experience is also strongly preferred.

The candidate must be willing and able to participate in a technical training program lasting up to one month at the main training facilities at the Siemens Wind Power Headquarters in Denmark.

Job Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager. This position will interface closely with product engineering to ensure all specifications are met. The Project Engineer will also maintain manufacturing test systems. Moderate exposure to equipment maintenance expected.

Other responsibilities include introduction/implementation of new products, as well as development/modification of next generation test systems.

All rotations will support the following businesses within Siemens Industry, Inc.:

Drive Technologies- consolidates the activities of Above NEMA Motors and NEMA motors, as well as Medium and Low Voltage Drives addressing the customers need for horsepower, speed, torque control and intelligence.

Low Voltage Distribution - has technologies ranging from circuit protection and energy management systems to controls, industrial software and totally integrated power solutions.

This extensive two-year rotational program consists of 4 six-month rotations throughout key areas of Engineering. ELDP is intended for graduates seeking opportunities to work on product design, engineering, and quality testing for the construction market.

Product Design and Development - develop concepts and designs for new products and design-to-cost for existing products.

Engineering Testing - gain valuable experience with a wide variety of Siemens products, testing methods, and exposure to regulatory and agency standards.

Product/Quality Engineering - develop engineering skills through maintenance of existing products, agency certification testing, design implementation, and product yield improvement.
*

Product Management - gain detailed knowledge of products in the Siemens Industry portfolio. Possible projects include Product Roadmap Development, Voice of the Customer, New Product Introduction, Customer Support, and Competitive Analysis.
