University Museums at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for an Administrative Specialist II position that will manage departmental state appropriated, private and sponsored project budgets; fiscal operations including contracts and grants; and will ensure compliance with all financial regulations. This position will also assist and advise the museum director regarding budget policies, procedures, planning and forecasting, personnel and reports and will assist the museum staff in preparation of project and proposal budgets. Position will receive museum audiences at museum sites, phone, electronically. Position will provide administrative support to the museum director on assigned projects.

The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, outstanding time management skills; the ability to work independently with frequent interruptions; and to work well with a wide variety of people, both internal and external to the university, from student employees to distinguished professors and donors.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or a related discipline and one year of comparable experience in areas such as accounting, budgeting, personnel management, purchasing, or arts/museum management OR a combination of related education and experience totaling more than five years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing budgets.
Experience managing fiscal operations including contracts and grants.
Experience that demonstrates familiarity with museums, art, and principles of visual literacy and learning.
Experience with ISU policies and procedures.


Minimum $16,840 (1/2 time); commensurate with qualifications
