THE JOB
Summary:
We are currently seeking a Criminal Justice and Public Policy Department Chair to lead and inspire our innovative online Criminal Justice and Public Policy faculty and to collaborate with our Course Development Team to create revolutionary curriculum. Location: San Francisco
Responsibilities:
Manage the recruitment, selection, training, and professional development of Business and Communications faculty, including conducting effective forecasting and scheduling
Supervise faculty, as assigned by the Academic Dean, including conducting training, monitoring performance, conducting performance reviews, and designing performance improvement initiatives
Participate in the recruitment and training of academically qualified Subject Matter Experts to develop courses in Business and Communications
Collaborate with Instructional Designers and editors to review courses developed by Subject Matter Experts, ensuring continuity and quality
Lead student retention initiatives, collaborating with staff in multiple departments
Resolve student issues escalated by Course Specialists and Student Advisors
Participate in the development and enforcement of university policies and procedures in conjunction with academic and administrative staff
Hold regular meetings with virtual and onsite faculty to communicate updates to university policies and procedures, and to facilitate discussions around best practices in supporting students
Monitor the quality of online instruction through online classroom visits, review of student satisfaction surveys, and review of course data
Participate in the regular evaluation of academic programs and the assessment of student and program outcomes
Devise, implement, and test student community building initiatives, collaborating with the User Experience Team and other departments
Perform other duties as assigned
Criminal Justice and Public Policy Department Chair Qualifications:
Required Experience and Skills
MPA, MPP, or Master’s in Criminal Justice required; candidates with degrees in unrelated disciplines will not be considered
4-6 years’ experience managing undergraduate Criminal Justice and/or Public Policy curriculum for a college or university required
Experience managing faculty for an online college or university required
Experience working with adult students required
Successful online instruction experience at a postsecondary level strongly preferred, especially with at-risk populations
For-profit higher education experience preferred
Outstanding time management and communication skills
Outstanding writing and editing skills
